Upgrade Your Financial Wisdom

Proverbs 6:1-5 (NIV)- My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,2 you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.3 So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands: Go—to the point of exhaustion—[a]and give your neighbor no rest!4 Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids. 5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

Good morning and God bless. I just wanted to share with you a few financial nuggets this morning as it relates to the gazelle freeing itself from the hunter. Men and women of God, the Lord want us to be free in our finances too. I love that fact that once again a father is giving his son important instructions about debt. Let me share what I’ve learned.

1. Gazelles don’t try to outrun they outmaneuver. Don’t try to outrun the debt, you outmaneuver - When the gazelle sees its hunter, the cheetah, the gazelle does not attempt to outrun the cheetah the gazelle know it must outmaneuver the cheetah. Outmaneuver means to gain an advantage by skillful or clever methods. In other words, get you some intended and controlled methods to get out of debt. Get you some steps that will gain you a favorable end. Cheetahs sprint faster than a gazelle, but that can’t outlast a gazelle. We know we may have more bills than money, but we must find endurance and momentum to get the task done.

2. Force the cheetah to change directions. Change the terms of the debt- The gazelle does not try to outrun the cheetah; it forces the cheetah to change directions. Some scientists believe that the gazelles use a technique called “Pronk” to notify the herd of danger. If that is the case, Solomon is “pronking” his son letting him know the danger of debt and how to get out of it. Therefore, he encourages the son to plea for a release and don’t stop to you are exhausted and don’t give your neighbor no rest. What debt do you need to change terms or negotiate?

3. They can shrink their heart and liver, in their lean times. Lord what does that mean to us? It means in our times in which money is not plentiful or when one in not as successful our hearts must remain in a humble posture thru the shift. Because sometimes when things change, we get bitter and not better. God wants you to shrink your thinking from your own will, from your own intellect from your own feelings and place your heart in his hand. When you do that, he can shrink your liver. Your liver reflects what is going on in your life and causes your body to be out of balance. Don’t let debt get you out of balance; however, use financial wisdom to bring you out.

I declare and decree today that in 2022. 3 John 1:2 shall be your portion- Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.(KJV)
