2 Kings 19:1-5(AMP): When king Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes and he covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house (temple) of the Lord. 2 Then he sent Eliakim who was in charge of his household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz. 3 They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This is a day of distress and anxiety, of punishment and humiliation; for children have come to [the time of their] birth and there is no strength to rescue them. 4 It may be that the Lord your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to taunt and defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which the Lord your God has heard. So offer a prayer for the remnant [of His people] that is left [in Judah].’” 5 So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah. 6 Isaiah said to them, “Say this to your master: ‘Thus says the Lord, “Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled (blasphemed) Me. 7 Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own land. And I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.”
Have you ever felt like screaming shut up satan? With what is going on in this world and all of the negative reports, it makes me want to scream Shut up satan! Of course we could tell and we should tell satan to shut up with all of his lies and all of his tactics to instill fear into God's people; however in this passage Hezekiah chose to do something different. Now, keep in mind many of us may have found ourselves just like Hezekiah in a state of distress. Distress happens when we find ourselves overwhelmed to the point of panic, overcome by the sense of dread, or the inability to cope with the circumstances. When we know this is the case, we can follow Hezekiah's response. First, he took the situation for "face value". Don't brush off issues or situations see them for what they are, so you can handle them correctly. Not handling problems correctly can but us in distress. Just humble yourself before God and let him know, "I messed up God and I pray you will help me to get out of this situation". Secondly, don't let problems or the words send you into a state of rejection. Seek God's help immediately and consistently. Thirdly, seek out the word of God. Hezekiah sought out the word of the Lord through the prophet of God Isaiah. We have to seek God's word. God's word come to us in many ways...dreams, visions, songs, sermons, man or woman of God just to name a few. Hezekiah pleaded his case as a case against God. Let me tell you, as a child of God when the enemy comes up against you it is not about your flesh. The word tells us "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph 6:12)." God knows how to handle all attacks against him and us. So, I want you to know just how to shut satan up because we have God's blessed assurance. We can let the devil know we are not afraid of the words he has whirled into the atmosphere for our God is greater. Just like he did for Hezekiah he can do the same for us. God can send a spirit to speak rumors to the accuser that the accuser will return to the author of the thing and upon that return will fall on its own sword and die where it started from. By the power of God, we send all of satan's little imps back to him so they can die. Satan, want you just shut up because what you speak are just words. Lay your request out before the Lord about the words and watch God...Shut satan up!
Don't let words put you in distress just know God is your battle ax.
Be encourage
Love,
Pastor Jai
